To create a fun-to-drive experience, you need a good body. We consider a good body to be both lightweight and highly rigid.
No matter how powerful the engine is, or how great the suspension or tires are, without a good body that can fully utilize them, the fun of driving is halved.
The body of the FL-type Civic has an optimized structure and materials, achieving high rigidity and excellent handling.
However, when you increase the grip level of the tires and power, the car starts to show slight delays in response and unstable behaviour.
After various verifications and tests, we found that reinforcing the part connecting the front subframe under the floor and the body eliminated these negative behaviours and achieved more agile handling.
We developed a stiff plate to reinforce this area. The stiff plate connects many points with a surface and is made of high-tensile steel, which provides a high level of reinforcement while minimizing weight increase.
A good body will transform the FL Civic into an even more exhilarating and fun car.
